How can I participate Urban Sketchers-Texas?

The mission of Urban Sketchers Texas is to connect on-location sketchers across the state.  Participating in Urban Sketchers Texas through events, workshops, Sketchcrawls and the Facebook page is open to everyone.  USK Texas doesn't have a "membership" per se.  Anyone can post on the USK Texas facebook page, and location sketchers throughout the state are encouraged to do so:

Newcomers are also encouraged to post on the global Urban Sketchers Facebook page and Flickr sites:

The only "requirement" for posting on those pages is that the urban sketches be done on location, from direct observation.  Beginners are welcome and encouraged, so please jump in!

Blog Correspondents

As with global Urban Sketchers blog correspondents, USK Texas blog correspondents are invited based on the quality of their work, style, originality, geographic location and overall skills as visual storytellers. The goal is to make the blog as diverse as possible in terms of geography and style.

Correspondents come from all corners of the state and have diverse backgrounds, from painting, architecture, journalism, advertising, illustration, graphic design or teaching.  All of them share the same passion for drawing on location.

Being a correspondent means a strong involvement in our community of sketchers, including posting to the blog regularly —a minimum of twice a month— and offering feedback to fellow sketchers on the blog and Facebook page.  Correspondents not only add individual drawings to the blog but also narrative explaining the circumstances in which the sketch was done or a particular story behind it.
Current USK Texas blog correspondents review the Facebook posts and recommend new correspondents to the blog administrator.  When a new blog correspondent is invited, they are asked to agree to our shared commitment:
  • To agree to adhere to the USK mission and manifesto
  • To post regularly--twice a month minimum; more if possible
  • To attend and help organize local outings when possible.
  • It is also suggested that anyone interested in becoming a USK-Texas correspondent apply for membership in the global USK organization.
